We held the first in a series of discussions on ''Making the Case for Capitalism” at our campaign HQ, 1a Heath Hurst Road, Hampstead, NW3 2RU
The summations of these CPF meetings will be fed back to CCHQ as indeed this will be happening from all Association CPF meetings.
At this first meeting on “Making the Case for Capitalism” we explored first of all what is and what types of Capitalism exist across the world economies. Ranging from the corporate as typified across the west such as USA and UK to other forms such as;
They include advanced capitalism, corporate capitalism, finance capitalism, free-market capitalism, mercantilism, social capitalism, state capitalism and welfare capitalism. Other variants of capitalism include anarcho-capitalism, community capitalism, humanistic capitalism, neo-capitalism, state monopoly capitalism, and technocapitalism
Naturally we focused on the traditional view of corporate, financial and free-market capitalism as it is the prevalent model here in the UK. We studied some real example case studies of actual medium size business public listings to discuss the key drivers for business growth opportunities.
We heard many questions from our members on the key topics they would like to study more closely in future CPF discussions on what is likely to be an extended series of talks; the energy markets affecting the whole of the Europe including the UK as Putin’s war in Ukraine continues. The energy markets due to shortage of supply greatly increasing prices in unprecedented manner.
This all feeding into increased pressures across all regions into what has now become known as “cost of living” in the view of the press a “crises” in the view of economists with the benefit of knowledge and the “longview” a market reaction to the world event in this case the war in Ukraine.
The subject of the NHS has been requested to be included in our series of next talks, this is a topic that everyone has vested interest and experience. The NHS was at the very pinnacle and forefront of the whole nation during the COVID pandemic.
But we all recognize that the effects of rapid increase of “cost of living hits hard all house holds with no exceptions. It will be this very energized topic that we will focus on the next discussions here at Hampstead & Kilburn Association CPF.
Next planned CPF discussion “Making the Case for Capitalism” The cost of living - 'What should capitalism look like when translated into policy with regards the cost of living"
