Haverstock Hill Cycle Lane Survey
■ The unpopular conversion of all parking on Haverstock Hill into cycle lanes has been completed, with local businesses reporting big hits to customer numbers.
Three businesses recently interviewed by the Ham & High said business was down due to customers not being able to park.
We are aware of other businesses struggling, and have suggested amendments to Camden’s absolutist “no parking” approach that would save them from folding.
Over two-thirds of local residents and three-quarters of local businesses opposed the plans.
But when it came to a vote, only Camden Conservative councillors voted to listen to residents and oppose the unpopular scheme - while Labour voted for the scheme, and Lib Dems abstained.
We will continue to listen to and stand up for you.
We are asking local residents their opinion about the trial Haverstock Hill cycle lanes. These lanes were introduced after a clear majority of locals opposed them. Safe cycling is important for local transport and improved air quality but is this scheme the right answer? Tell us via
