Andrew and Gio are back helping Frognal Ward
Cllrs Andrew Parkinson and Gio Spinella have already had a busy start to their term as Frognal’s local councillors: helping residents with enquiries, attending local meetings and meeting with Camden Council officers and residents.
Rubbish continues to be a problem across Frognal. Missed collections, fly-tipping and waste left strewn across the street.
We have continued to report these cases and get Camden officers to deal with them, but it shouldn’t be this way. Veolia and other waste collection companies should get it right first time.
Gio and Andrew will be raising this with the head of Camden’s waste service. In the meantime, Andrew has secured extra weekend street rubbish bin collections in the Holly Bush area after they were left overflowing from weekend visitors to the Heath.

We are especially grateful in light of the poor results the Conservatives have had in Camden and London in May. we will continue to help all Frognal residents, whether you voted for us or not.
As your ward councillors, we will respect our pledge to our constituents to continue to defend the character of our area, protect our green spaces and tackle traffic and the rat run.
We will also continue to hold Camden Council to account for those issues that you have raised with us, such as rubbish collection and overdevelopment.

Camden issues, or see them at surgery?
Gio and Andrew will hold their monthly surgery the second Saturday of every month on Hampstead High Street- outside the Barclays Bank from 10:30 to 12:00.
At a later date, now that Covid restrictions have been lifted, a second monthly surgery time and location will be added.

DANGEROUS CROSSINGS
After a long campaign by local Conservatives, TfL has agreed to investigate adding a green man phase to the crossings at Frognal Lane, West End Lane and Finchley Road. These crossings are perilous for pedestrians who often have to race across the road before cars turn into their path. It is only a matter of time before an accident happens here.
Cllr Parkinson has secured funding for a feasibility study to investigate adding a signalised pedestrian crossing, and we will be campaigning to ensure that this is implemented as soon as possible.
We are also investigating adding a safe crossing at the intersection of Frognal Lane and Frognal, which is also unsafe for pedestrians.
Tackling the school run
Cllr Spinella has been lobbying Camden Council for years to take action to reduce the impact of school run traffic. We are funding several initiatives to help tackle this problem. These include:
1. Support for the Homerun app. This is a sustainable school travel app designed to reduce the amount of school run traffic. We have provided funding to engage local schools with the app.
2. Arkwright Rd traffic study. School run traffic is a particular issue on Arkwright Road. We have provided funding for a traffic study to look into how to deal with this issue.
We are also aware of the rat-running issue in Ferncroft Avenue and Redington Road and are working with local community groups to come up with a comprehensive solution.
LOOKING AFTER OUR LOCAL TREES
Camden tree pollarding is still a concern for local residents. Andrew and Gio are continuing to liaise with the Council to find a way to ensure that no lasting damage is done to the hundreds of trees in our area.Please contact us if you know of any trees that have been felled recently.
We will ensure that they are replaced in the next planting season.
