After a long and hard fought campaign, Simon Marcus has been elected to represent Hampstead Town ward on Camden Council. The by-election in the ward which covers most of Hampstead village, North End, The Vale of Health and parts of South End Green and Belsize Park was caused by the resignation of hard working and well respected former Councillor Kirsty Roberts.
Cllr. Marcus will now join Cllr. Knight (Conservative) and representing Hampstead Town ward on Camden Council. Simon was elected with an increased Conservative share of the vote compared to the Camden elections of 2010. He was please at the reception that his positive election leaflets received on the doorstep. Commenting after the vote, he added:
“Thank you to everyone for giving me the honour of representing Hampstead and South End Green. It has been wonderful to meet so many residents in the area and listen to your ideas, concerns and hopes for Hampstead’s future. I look forward to getting to work to serve and support local residents with any difficulties that they may have.”
From sitting on the Government Riots Panel, running a boxing academy for at-risk youth and beating the BNP in Barking, it is clear that Simon’s experience will make him a strong voice for Hampstead on Camden Council.
