Frognal & Fitzjohns Councillors say 'Yes' to the Neighbourhood Plan
On the 17th of June, in a local referendum, those in the road highlighted above will invited to vote on the Redfrog Neighbourhood Plan. Your ward councillors encourage you to vote “Yes”.
This Neighbourhood Plan is the result of years of work by local residents with Camden and councillors to prepare additional planning guidance for our area. Its intention is to ensure future development will take residents’ wishes and expectations into account. It doesn’t replace or supersede national planning laws and local planning guidance, but adds additional considerations to ensure that the character of the area is respected and that the local community’s priorities are respected at all times.
Local residents- coordinated by Redfrog (the Redington and Frognal residents’ association) have been working in this plan for years. The final version of the plan was recently signed off by an independent examiner who said that: “Producing the Redington Frognal Neighbourhood Plan has clearly involved extensive voluntary effort over many years. It is informed by significant community involvement. There has also been a variety of support and assistance from independent consultants, local groups and ward councillors.
Cllr Andrew Parkinson - who is also Vice-Chair of the Redfrog Committee- says “local residents have the opportunity to make clear what they want their neighborhood to look like in the future and the Neighbourhood Plan is the way to achieve this.”
Cllr Gio Spinella says “The Neighbourhood Plan has been in development for years and represents the final result of hundreds of man-hours of residents’ work. It is a prime example of community engagement and needs residents’ votes for its final approval.”
Cllr Henry Newman added: “This plan will help preserve our area’s biodiversity and open spaces, improve Finchley Road, protect our conservation area, and deliver new homes in sustainable locations”.
It’s objectives are a) to preserve and enhance the Redington Frognal characteristics as a picturesque garden suburb, supporting a diverse population; b) to protect and improve green space and biodiversity; c) to enhance the environment of Finchley Road; d) identify areas for growth of new homes, with community facilities to support home working; e) maintain and promote the area as a Centre for Tertiary Education the Arts and Culture; and f) ensure that basement development does not impact local hydrology or cause damage to neighbouring properties.
Your local ward councillors encourage and exhort you to vote Yes!
