BRENT'S STREETS NAMED 2ND DIRTIEST IN ENGLAND
Brent's streets have been named the 2nd-dirtiest in England, with 34,000 fly-tipping incidents in the 12 months before Covid struck. That's up 43% in one year! Brent deserves cleaner streets.
These official statistics from the Department for the Environment (DEFRA) will come as no surprise to anyone that's been to Willesden High Road or Kilburn High Road.
But Brent Council's (Labour) Cabinet is so out of touch that, just seven months ago, it singled out its record on fly-tipping as one of its greatest successes. If they think it's a success, no wonder they're doing nothing to clean up our filthy streets!
Brent needs a wake-up call and Brondesbury needs a strong voice so problems are solved - not just papered over by Labour.
In Carol Shaw, Brondesbury Park had a local champion that would get waste cleaned up and potholes fixed. I am standing as the Conservative candidate to be your councillor in the by-election on 6th May so I can fulfill Carol's role again.
Brent is a soft touch on littering and fly-tipping, too. It imposes on-the-spot fines of just £100 - a third less than the average council. So not only is lacking a local champion as a councillor meaning waste isn't cleared up quickly and problem areas resolved, but Brent isn't taking the tough action needed to deter mess either.
One of Labour's first acts when they took control of Brent Council was to cut bin collections, and Brent's streets have got filthier ever since. And here in and around Brondesbury Park, they got a lot worse after Carol was replaced by Labour councillors.
I'm standing as the Conservative candidate in the by-election on 6th May. Whether it's fixing potholes, repairing pavements, or clearing fly-tipping, I will work tirelessly so that you get the Rolls-Royce service you used to get from your councillors.
