Hampstead resident, Simon Marcus, has today been selected to fight the forthcoming by-election in Hampstead Town ward caused by the resignation of Councillor Kirsty Roberts who has sadly had to step down due to changes in her professional life.
Simon who was raised in Hampstead and has lived here most of his adult life said:
“It is an honour to have been selected to fight this by-election and to have the chance to represent the residents of Hampstead and South End Green at Camden Town Hall.
I was raised in Hampstead and have lived here most of my adult life. I have fond memories of walking to school along Church Row, paddling in Whitestone Pond, buying my books as a youngster at the High Hill Bookshop and drinking my first pint at the Holly Bush.
We are very lucky to live in this part of London, and I am committed to protecting and enhancing all the things that make Hampstead such a special place to live.
I was heavily involved in this summer's local shops campaign, battling, together with Jessica Learmond-Criqui,on behalf of our independent traders on Hampstead High Street.
Whether it is a full time police station, a vibrant high street with local, independent shops or building and maintaining our happy, friendly community that cherishes its past and is optimistic about the future, I will fight for what is best for Hampstead.
I look forward to as many residents as possible over the coming weeks on the campaign trail.”
