East Heath Road car park will get electric car charging points, thanks to a campaign by Hampstead’s Conservative councillors.
The City of London announced it would install electric chargers as part of its resurfacing of the car park, after it was requested by Cllr Oliver Cooper and Cllr Stephen Stark. The installation will be integrated into the work already scheduled for later this year.
This will help people to travel to and around Hampstead by electric vehicle: reducing pollution, as electric cars produce no carbon dioxide, no nitrogen oxide, and 60% less particulate matter.
Cllr Oliver Cooper launched a petition to install 2,000 discreet electric car chargers for residents’ use in lamp posts (right). Despite 75% of funding for chargers coming from central government, Labour-run Camden is installing just 33 for 100,000 homes!
You can read about our plan and sign the petition to install more charging points at www.MakeCamdenElectric.com.
Cllr Oliver Cooper, Cllr Stephen Stark, and local NHS worker and Royal Free governor Maria Higson — standing to join them on Camden Council on 3rd May — are working hard to tackle pollution.
They recently unveiled the greenest local Conservative manifesto anywhere in the country: with a plan to open more green spaces, plant more trees, support electric cars, and take tough action to raise air quality.
We’re fighting to tackle air pollution from school run traffic, development, and much more. While Labour talk about pollution, it’s left to Conservative councillors to walk the walk.
