Bacton Tower, at the heart of Gospel Oak ward was hit by our own team of Guerrilla Gardeners, led by Marx de Morais, at the weekend. They used plants donated buy the community to green up empty planters (neglected by Camden Council) in Gospel Oak.
Local residents have said how much they appreciate the idea. In Weedington pleased residents have been helping and watering the plants.
We took the idea from the team in Fordwych Road @GFriendsNW2 who we are all local volunteers (not attached to any political party!) who meet on Sat from 11-1. everyone welcome, we have tools and gloves. We're also the ones busy planting round the trees. They meet just behind St Cuthbert's and here is their blog.
The other great local volunteer driven gardening project is led @LindaGr20696074 at the Royal Free garden who is donating many of pots.
Its great to be doing something to support Gospel Oak. Its a shame Camden don't see this as a priority. It helps cut down fly tipping as people seem less inclined to dump on flowers!
You can help us to green up Gospel Oak. If you have any plants, bulbs or seeds spare that we can use in this project please drop off at our campaign HQ, 1a Heath Hurst Rd, NW3 2RU (opposite Hampstead Heath overland station) or email [email protected]
