Last week we came to the Lambolle Road area for a street surgery, to find out about any issues that you and your neighbours may be having with Camden council services. People told us that they’re very happy living in these lovely streets in our beautiful Conservation Area. But they did say that there are some problems with waste and recycling.
We heard that some recycling bins are being contaminated. Someone else told us that they’d noticed that garden waste is collected, regardless of whether people have paid for this additional service. And another resident told us she’d tried to go to Regis Road Recycling & Reuse Centre, but found that she couldn’t drop off her garden waste as there was no space for it there! We contacted the council straight away and insisted that they sort this out, so that people can use Regis Road.
People also told us that some hedges are overhanging the footpath and getting in people’s way. We asked Camden to notify anyone if hedges need trimming and also, reminded the council about their own responsibility to trim back the low growth of their trees. This is an issue for Camden’s street properties and also along Eton Avenue, where growth reduces sight-lines and makes crossing the road difficult.
We know that the waste contract has caused problems since it was implemented in April. Please do get in touch if you need any help. You can also use the Clean Camden app to report issues directly to the team: here
Many Belsize residents have contacted us over the last month about the rise in moped crime. We’ve organised a public meeting about moped crime and policing in Camden at 7pm, on the 14th September 2017 at St Stephens, Rosslyn Hill, NW3. There will be time for you to ask questions, or raise any particular issues that you may have.
All the best,
Claire-Louise, Leila, Jonny and Steve
P.S. Our next Street Surgery is outside Tesco, Englands Lane on Saturday 2nd Sept 10.30-12pm
