During these times we’ll be working to install the overhead power line structures and associated parts required to support the wires. This work will require the use of Road Rail Vehicles and hand tools. For safety reasons these vehicles must sound a horn before every movement to alert staff working on the ground. Should we need to carry out significant additional work localised letters will be sent.
The equipment we use means some disturbance is unavoidable, but we will make every effort to minimise any unnecessary noise. Furthermore, those working on site are briefed on working responsibly in the local community.
Further closures will be needed to complete all of the work required and a full schedule is being finalised in conjunction with Transport for London and the Department for Transport.
The line reopened on Monday 27 February 2017 following a phased eight-month closure. During that time Network Rail carried out work to lower sections of track and raise bridges to make space for electrical infrastructure. The full schedule of work to electrify the route was not completed during this time owing to design inaccuracies and late delivery of materials.
Replacement buses will be in operation. Passengers should check before they travel and plan their journey in advance.
