Tinsel Town Reduces Opening Hours
Following a further increase in anti-social behaviour and criminal activity in the New End and Heath Street area, the management of Tinsel Town on Heath Street have finally agreed with the police to drastically reduce their opening hours. They will now close at 11pm from Sunday through to Thursday (instead of 2am), and at midnight on Fridays and Saturdays (instead of 3am).
Councillor Tom Currie said, “For many years now, Tinsel Town have disregarded the wellbeing of local residents who have suffered littering, crime, yelling and swearing in the early hours of the morning, and threatening behaviour – all of which seem to emanate from the patrons of this one particular venue. This is a quiet residential area, not a late night hot-spot full of bars and clubs. Yet the management continued to open their doors until the early hours, despite the pleas of local residents to have some courtesy for the neighbourhood.
It appears now that even Tinsel Town’s management are unable to ignore the recent increase in crime and anti-social behaviour, and after discussions with local police, they have finally agreed to limit their opening hours to a more sensible time.
Your local Councillors are hopeful that these reduced hours will mean that New End and Heath Street will no longer become a destination for late night revellers, and that residents will no longer have to suffer the abuse and crime that they have done in recent years. We will continue to keep a close eye on events however, and if there are any instances of anti-social behaviour by Tinsel Town patrons, please do alert the police and your local Councillors.
Our thanks also go to the local police for their intervention, and for their recent discussions with the Tinsel Town management.”
