Camden Labour have abolished the letters that inform neighbours about planning applications, saying that notices on lampposts and the online Camden account are all that residents now need.
As we sadly anticipated, across Camden we have heard many stories of developers removing site notices and only 54 people in the whole borough have signed up for direct planning alerts! Camden Conservatives think it's irresponsible to abolish letters when so few people use the alternative, and when no effort was made to cut costs before cutting the service.
Construction at a neighbouring property can cause enormous disruption to a family's life and building work may even damage their home. Feedback from neighbours is vital, as it helps the Planning Committee to make good decisions.
Like the Garden Waste tax, Camden Labour have forced through this decision, despite serious concerns being raised by residents.
