Local Conservatives are celebrating unemployment falling to a new record low across Brent last month. A staggering 1,575 fewer local residents now having to rely on out-of-work benefits than did a year ago: testament to the hard work of local people and the success of the Conservatives' economic plan.
Since Labour left government in 2010, the number of people out of work locally has fallen by 4,000: a reduction of almost half. And it's fallen this year to record lows in 15 of the borough's 21 wards, including all three in Hampstead & Kilburn: meaning employment and prosperity is being spread widely across our community.
Nationwide, 99% of the net new jobs created in the last year have been full-time. And with wages rising 2.7% and the the cost of living no longer rising at all, it's great to see work now really does pay.
Brent Conservative Councillor Joel Davidson said, "This is further evidence that Brent residents continue to benefit from the Conservative Government's long-term economic plan, which is providing new opportunities for families across our borough.
"Cllr Butt and his cronies might not like it, but the Conservatives' economic policies are far more effective for our residents than the scaremongering that we see from Brent Labour."
