Today we learnt that Brent Council have finally relented to a concerted residents campaign from the residents of John Barker Court and the surrounding area by pulling their proposed hearing from tomorrow's planning meeting.
The application has been a shambles from the very start - the planning application document was riddled with errors, and Brent planning officers have bent over backwards to ignore local residents.
They had initially scheduled a new hearing for tomorrow July 29, but Cllrs Shaw and Davidson vociferously opposed this on behalf of our residents, as the officers tried to justify having the same planning committee members who had unanimously approved the application vote again on the same application.
This virtually guaranteed that our residents would not get a fair hearing, so Cllrs Shaw and Davidson were forced to lodge a complain with the Local Government Ombudsman about it.
We are concerned that Brent is setting a dangerous precedent by choosing to ignore minor works which are taking place prior to permission being formally granted - an extraordinary position for Brent Council to have got into.
With their worrying actions in this case, Brent is threatening to turn planning applications into a farce, as at every juncture of this application they have pursued their own agenda to the detriment of our residents.
Your Brondesbury Park Cllrs are pleased to have helped to force the Council to back off, and we will continue our campaign for the residents of John Barker Court.
