Our local community received a Christmas bonus this year, as it was revealed that unemployment has fallen to a new record low across Hampstead & Kilburn.
Unemployment in Hampstead & Kilburn has fallen to 1,895 – down 43% since Labour left office in 2010 – according to figures released today by the Office for National Statistics.
Across Camden as a whole, unemployment has fallen by 999 in the last year: taking the total out of work to half the level it was in 2010. In Brent, it’s fallen by 2,023: a fall of over a third.
Cllr Simon Marcus, the Conservative parliamentary candidate, said “I’m very glad that more people in Hampstead & Kilburn have the security of a pay-packet this Christmas.”
Thanks to the government’s plan to cut taxes for people that want to work and people that want to employ them, 588,000 jobs have been created nationwide in the past year: 95% of them full-time.
And thanks to the government tackling the deficit, the fastest growth in the G7 has been balanced with low inflation: meaning wages for those in work for longer than a year have seen their pay rise four times as fast as prices.
55,000 Hampstead & Kilburn residents pay less income tax, thanks to this government, saving the typical taxpayer £705 a year. Meanwhile, entrepreneurs have seen their National Insurance bills cut by £2,000 a year: and abolished altogether for employees under the age of 21.
With a thousand fewer people out of work in Camden, and two thousand fewer in Brent, it’s clear the government’s plan is working not just for our country, but for our community, too.
