Simon Marcus is pleased to report that Transport for London are proposing a bigger, brighter, more accessible London Overground station for West Hampstead.
The new station will:
- Have longer platforms to accommodate the new 5-car London Overground trains
- Have a greater number of ticket gates to ease congestion, particularly at peak times
- Have step-free access from street level to platform
- Have wider platforms to ease circulation for passengers boarding and alighting trains
- Be set back to allow the pavement on West End Lane to be doubled in width creating a new, safer walking route for the public and passengers changing between West Hampstead’s three stations
- Have additional sheltered space at platform level
The station will feature a footbridge over the railway with lifts to both platforms. The staircases will be 50% wider to allow for higher numbers of passengers, both now and in the future.

This will provide level access from street to platform level benefiting the whole community, including passengers in wheelchairs, parents with buggies or anyone who struggles using the stairs.
Tfl project team will be on hand this Tuesday (2 December) if you would like to discuss their proposals further. They would be happy if you could attend:
Hampstead Synagogue Hall, 1 Dennington Park Rd, London NW6 1AX, from 5pm to 8pm
