Since 2008 Woodchurch has been blighted by the demolished shell of 24 Woodchurch Road, NW6. It remains a building site to this date, often part flooded. Apart from being an eyesore and a waste of a good building site it is also un healthy having stagnant standing water.
Following action from Cllr Andrew Parkinson (who does not represent the area, but was asked to act by local residents) Camden have replied and are now acting to get this mess cleared up. They have replied
'A letter has been sent to the Owners of 24 Woodchurch Road in respect to the site being a construction site since around 2008/9, its untidy state and also the water that is being collected in the hole located behind the hoarding. We received a response from the owner on the 19th January advising that they had just received my letter (due to postal strike), and asked for a 1 month extension to provide a formal response and to do the requested work, which was:
- Drain/pump the water out of the hole in the ground;
- Undertake interim works to cover up the hole in the ground to ensure that water is not gathered and that it does not cause a potential hazard.
They confirmed that water is regularly pumped/drained from the site, but on last review it was still quite water logged.
Our initial letter also advised that if prompt progress is not made in terms of remedying the poor external condition of the premises and a guarantee given to the Council works will be undertaken, the Council has the option to take enforcement action under Sections 94 and 215 of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990 (as amended) via the service of a completion notice or a S215 notice.'
We will keep you posted!
