Camden & Islington Councils have produced, what they term a 'Healthy Neighbourhood' proposal for large swathes of the Dartmouth Park, Highgate, and Highgate Newtown.
This would involve road closures, making some roads one-way, and forcing traffic off the back roads. Major closures will be Swains Lane and one-way traffic on Chester Road & Chetwynd Road.
The scheme is a curate's egg (good in parts). Please let us know your opinions, as well as responding to Camden through their Commonplace website. Camden's questionnaires tend to be too presumptive, leading to their solutions, for what may or may not be real problems.
This will, of course, result in greater traffic pressure on the few remaining through roads. The plans have already been reported in 'The Ham & High'. Highgate West Hill residents are worried that these plans divert traffic onto Highgate West Hill. You can read the article here.
