Hampstead & Kilburn Conservatives are to throw open the doors to local residents to select their next Parliamentary candidate. Hampstead Synagogue’s community hall in Dennington Park Road, West Hampstead, NW6, will play host to the open primary selection on the 30th January 2013.
The vote follows 2010’s knife-edge General Election. Conservatives came just 42 votes short of pulling off a shock victory over Labour, with the Lib Dems trailing in third place. Consequently, Hampstead and Kilburn is one of the Conservative Party’s top target seats. To secure a Conservative majority at the next General Election the Conservatives will need to win the seat from Labour.
Local residents, whether Conservative voters or not, will be eligible to vote in a primary election. So far the primary is the first of its kind ahead of the likely 2015 General Election. Formal registration invitations will be issued in early January. Eligible residents are those whose names appear on the Electoral Register on 1st January 2013. All attending must pre-register before 28th January. Registration information will be distributed constituency-wide.
Details of the candidates can be viewed via the links below or in this weeks Camden New Journal and Ham & High
