You are invited to an open community meeting on Tuesday, 30th October at 7.00pm at St Stephens Church, Pond Street, Hampstead, NW3 2PP
I am writing to you as concerns have been raised by suggestions that the Metropolitan Police are looking to sell a number of police buildings across London. We are concerned that this includes the closure of Hampstead Police Station. Pressure from our community has meant we are urging you to make your views clear on the future of Hampstead Police Station before these ideas are presented as a fait accompli.
In the last two months I have held meetings with Mayor of London Boris Johnson and Deputy Mayor for Policing, Stephen Greenhalgh. They have told me that“We will not consider a proposal to dispose of Hampstead Police Station until suitable alternative accommodation has been found.”
This meeting will be to discuss future plans and ideas for Hampstead Police Station. I hope that you can attend. It is open to all local residents.
The format of the meeting will be a brief introduction by the Chair (Cllr Simon Marcus), followed by other speakers. Speakers will be from many local amenity groups and all local political parties.
After this, all attendees will have the opportunity to speak and finally the Chair will sum up.
An agenda will be sent out nearer the meeting, however the theme will be:
- What is the current situation with regard to Hampstead Police Station
- What do we want and what is achievable
- How we can achieve it
The idea of this meeting is to produce a united representative body or approach joining together local organisations, residents and representatives that can speak with one voice and ensure that Hampstead gets a full time, permanent Police Station in the future.
I hope that you can attend
