Hampstead’s pubs are invaluable hubs of the local community, and deserve patronage and protection.Stephen Stark, Tom Currie, and Oliver Cooper back giving all local pubs legal protection as recognised Assets of Community Value (ACVs): putting a brake on their closure.
Tom campaigned with residents to secure ACV status for the Magdala: to stop it being sold off to become luxury housing. The pub is due to re-open later this year on a 20-year lease.
Stephen, Tom, and Oliver are working to save the Old White Bear, and remove the unsightly scaffolding. Recent changes in the law will allow the secretive owner to be identified.
Hampstead Town Conservatives are hosting a pub meet-up at the Duke of Hamilton, a great independent on New End in Hampstead village, on at 7pm on 19th July. All supporters, whether party members or not, from across Hampstead & Kilburn (or further afield!) are welcome.
