LAST BELSIZE VILLAGE SHOP UNIT FILLED!
■ We’re delighted to see the last shop unit in Belsize Village, marking a remarkable renaissance for Belsize. Pre-Covid, a fifth of all units in Belsize Village were empty.
With the lease signed for 12 Belsize Terrace, it’s now zero!
Huge thanks to the Belsize Village Business Association (BVBA) and the whole community, whose great work made this possible.
To enable the revitalisation of the village, local Conservatives led by former Belsize councillor Steve Adams:
■ Helped launch the Belsize Village Streatery, and were the only party in Camden to back making it permanent: whereas Labour and Lib Dems abstained.
■ Recently launched and funded a project to restore shopfronts to a more attractive heritage style and write that into planning rules to protect the village character.
■ Secured a new bin for residents’ use to keep Belsize the cleanest part of Camden. Filling those empty units earns Camden over £100,000 a year in extra Business Rates: enough to double bin
collections for every Belsize resident if Camden wanted to!
