Japanese Knotweed breaks out in Church Row, Hampstead
Cllr Steve Adams has responded to news a resident supplied about an outbreak of Japanese Knotweed. He has written to many thousands of residents to ask them to be on alert, and to report in any outbreaks. In his message he has noted
'A resident has contacted me to report an outbreak of Japanese knotweed in the upper graveyard in Church Row. This is definitely an outbreak of the pervasive species. I will be contacting the relevant officers at Camden to get it removed and prevent its spreading.
If you see this plant in the area it has to be reported and removed professionally very quickly as it is highly destructive. Please look out for it and inform us at once.
I have been asked to supply more information on this plant.
The Royal Horticultural Society has a page about it here. It has more pictures, and the legal implications of it if you have it on your property. As an architect, I am particularly aware of its potential impact on property.
If you spot any - please contact one of your Conservative Councillors
