Don Williams marked the 9th anniversary of Boris Nemtsov's death with a floral tribute today. Mr Nemtsov was a Leader of the Opposition to Putin in Russia, who was asasinated close to the Kremlin. As Don Williams paid tribute to him, he also remembered Alexei Navalny, a fearless advocate for democracy, who died in a labour camp very recently.
Don placed flowers at Boris Nemtsov Place (In Highgate). Here he talked with the people mourners, sharing their sadness. Don recalled Navalny's message, urging us to keep fighting for freedom.
This act reminds us to appreciate the freedoms we have in the UK—freedoms that heroes like Nemtsov and Navalny gave their lives for. Their courage encourages us to cherish and protect our democracy.
