CRIME WAVE HITS DYNHAM RD, COTLEIGH RD, MESSINA AVENUE
Local Conservatives are alarmed by a rise of crime on local streets. Over a dozen cars have been broken into and stolen from on Dynham Road, Cotleigh Road, and Messina Avenue in recent weeks, while several burglaries have occurred too.
The Leader of Camden Conservatives has raised with the local police. We've asked that steps be taken to investigate this recent spate of offences and residents are sufficiently reassured that the police have it under control.
The local Conservative team Edward Butler-Ellis and Jeremy Sher also notified the police of fake locksmith stickers (right) being put on doors across the area. Police are investigating, as these have been used by gangs to mark targets for burgling.
Crime is rising in Camden faster than in any other London borough: 3 times as much as across all of London. So it's not a national or London issue, but a local issue, and our Labour councillors are failing our community.
CONSERVATIVE PLAN FOR SAFER STREETS
Hire more police — We'd hire 18 new police officers using Met's 'buy one, get one free' match-funding scheme; for every extra officer Camden funds, the Met pays for another.
Separate Camden and Islington police — We'd end the merger of Camden and Islington police, under which Camden's police are commanded from Islington.
Create Camden CCTV library — We'd create a Camden-wide 'smart' CCTV library, as in Glasgow and New York, where it has dramtically reduced crime and costs.
Support Neighbourhood Watches — We will continue to report matters to the police, and will support rolling out Neighbourhood Watches across Camden to do the same.
For a cleaner, greener, safer Kingsgate and Kilburn
