Could the Bakehouse on Heath Street be Tinsletown 2
For those who remember: Tinsletown was a milkshake bar on Heath Street which caused misery for those living around it until it was forced to close because of strong opposition from local residents, the police, Camden Council and your Conservative Councillors of which Cllr Stephen Stark was one.
Here the Bakehouse applicant has said that they want to turn the quiet coffee shop into what the agent has described as a fine dining restaurant with an alcohol licence and large TV screens selling tickets to watch and live performances. This application appears to be for a sports bar with food!
Cllr Stephen Stark met the applicants agent who is pushing this ghastly idea. The location on Heath Street is not suitable. There are local residents living close by many of whom may have children. Think of the narrow pavement here, the queues of people trying to get in and leave after watching a football/rugby match. The potential rowdiness, noise and anti-social behaviour don’t bear thinking about. The increased rubbish/cigarette butts will also be an issue and there will be vehicles parked on nearby streets/slamming doors late at night. Hampstead doesn’t need this and it’s just not fair to the wider community.
Stephen opposes the Bakehouse coffee shop becoming a sports bar.
Please urgently send Stephen your views so that he can include them at the licencing committee in early July.
