Camden Conservatives, led by Belsize Ward Councillors Claire-Louise Leyland and Jonny Bucknell, are proud to back the progress being made by the new Belsize Free School . They both congratulated Abacus on their recent meeting with the Secretary of State for Education, Michael Gove MP. The recent Abacus press release is set out below:-
On Friday 21st and Saturday 22nd July founding members of Abacus Belsize Primary School attended a two day training conference and reception organised by the Department for Education and the New Schools Network along with other successful free school groups who will also be opening their schools in September 2013. The Abacus group will begin a series of individual meetings with advisers from the Department of Education next week.
Here Malcolm Grove is photographed with Michael Gove, the Secretary of State for Education, and with Jayne Soanes from CfBT Schools Trust, with whom the Abacus Belsize group have formed a successful partnership.
Jill Barnes, who also attended the conference said “We were given a lot of information about the many, many things we need to do over the next year to get Abacus Belsize Primary School up and running and to ensure its long-term success. It’s a daunting prospect, but one that will make a real difference to our community. It’s going to be a very busy year for sure! We’ll be keeping them updated regularly.”
