Emma Best has been a London-wide Assembly Member since May 2021.
A Conservative representative, she has four main roles: Chairman of the GLA Oversight Committee, Deputy Chair of the Health Committee, member of the Police and Crime Committee, and Conservative Group spokesperson on health issues. Emma entered politics after experiencing the struggles in London first-hand: sofa surfing, knife crime, and the rising cost of living. Prior to politics, Emma worked in children's services, helping some of London’s most vulnerable children and young people access services and support.
She has served as a councilor in Redbridge and Waltham Forest and has led the charge against inappropriate over-development and the expansion of the Ultra-Low Emission Zone (ULEZ).
Emma is currently the Leader of the Opposition on Waltham Forest Council.
